Collierville Dragon Band
Director
Michael Wilson began teaching at Collierville High School in the Fall of 2008.  He is
from Tupelo, Mississippi, where he began his musical career at the age of 12 playing
the French Horn.  In 2000 he graduated from Delta State University, Cleveland, MS, with
a Bachelor of Music Education degree.  While at DSU he was selected by the music
faculty to perform on the annual Honor's Recital, a prestigious event.  He is currently in
pursuit of the Master of Music in Music Education degree from the University of
Memphis.

The marching arts are Mr. Wilson's professional passion.  He was a member of the
Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps, Montgomery, AL, from 1995-1997.  In 1997 he was
selected mellophone section leader.  In 1998 he was a member of the Phantom
Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, Rockford, IL, also playing mellophone.

Mr. Wilson served as the Assistant Band Director at Houston High School beginning in
the fall of 2003.  During the marching season he assisted in the planning and
implementation of the marching band program.  During the concert season he
conducted the Symphonic Band.  Also during the spring semester, Mr. Wilson was
heavily involved in the Houston Indoor Percussion Ensemble, teaching and cleaning
drill as well as providing creative ideas to the ensemble director.  He was also the
General Music teacher at Houston High in addition to teaching band.  Prior to arriving at
Houston High School, Mr. Wilson served as Head Band Director at Shannon High
School in Shannon, MS.  He is a member of several professional organizations
including WTSBOA, TMEA, and MENC.

He is married to a wonderful woman, Jan Wilson.  They live in Collierville and have a
son named Kaiden and two beagles named Scout and Daisy.
Guard Instructor
Jennifer Cooper began her colorguard career at Bartlett High School, where she was a
member of the marching colorguard and winterguard until she graduated in 2005.
Jennifer attened Mississippi State University for a year and a half, where she was also
a member of the Famous Maroon Band colorguard. Jennifer's love of colorguard led
her to go on to march with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from 2006 until her age out
in 2008. She also marched with Cordova Independent Winterguard in 2007 (which is
why she left MSU and transferred to the University of Memphis),which was the SCGC
silver medalist and WGI semi-finalist. For the 2008 season, the organization became
Capella Winterguard, in which Jana and Jennifer were promoted as captains. In 2008,
the guard was the SCGC gold medalist and the WGI Ind. A bronze medalist. In 2009,
Capella was promoted to Open Class and once again took gold at SCGC and was a
WGI finalist. Jennifer is finishing school at the
University of Memphis and is set to graduate with a BA in Elementary Education in
December 2009. She lives in Bartlett, Tennesse and is engaged to be married in 2010
to Christopher Tanner, her Colts seat partner of 2006 and 2007.
